The Pros:Built-in speakers. EBook reader. Great audio support.
The Cons:Small screen. Sound quality isn't as good as previous versions. Screen isn't very good.
The iriver E100 is iriver's first North American release since the popular Clix2. It is not considered a top-of-the-line mp3 player, but sits more in the lower end line for its class. It is a flash-based player and comes in 2GB, 4GB and 8GB models.

True to iriver's previous media player models, it supports a wide range of audio formats and video formats, although video will require some conversion to work. The E100 has some nice added value for a player in this price range such as: built-in speaker, FM tuner, voice recorder, microSD slot and text reader. Requires Windows XP or or Windows Vista (no Mac support).

#iriver_e100 Problems with WMV-9, MPG-4 and XVID support can be solved by using a free opensource program called http://mediacoder.sourceforge.net/download.htm
Video settings: frames per second (FPS) 24 or 25, 600 KPBS
format Xvid, container AVI,
Picture settings: 320 x 240 - check the cropper settings you want
In the audio use the Lame MP3 settings no more then 44100 hz (probably 33,000).

#iriver_e100 Companies aren't even trying anymore. Can't anybody give Apple a run for their money? The Touch has been out for almost a year now, and nothing really comes close. A shame, really.
