SanDisk Sansa Express
$60.00
Released August, 2007
The Pros:Direct USB connection. Impressive features for a small player. OLED screen to see songs and playlist.
The Cons:Bigger than other mini mp3 players (shuffle, zen stone). Earbuds are very poor quality. Screen is hard to read outdoors.
The SanDisk Sansa Express is a throwback to simpler mp3 players with an impressive feature set and a surprisingly low pricetag. It is the first mp3 player to be flash-based as well as support a direct USB connection - meaning no cable is required to connect the Sansa Express directly to your computer.

Although the Sansa Express is compact, it has enough space to house a 4 line, 2-color screen, an FM tuner and a built-in mic for recording. It also boasts a 15 hour battery life.
The Express comes in 1GB or 2GB capacities, with a microSD expansion slot for more storage. The Sansa Express has a direct advantage over its competition - the Creative Zen Stone and the ubiquitous Apple iPod Shuffle - with the screen, FM tuner and direct USB connection, although the sacrifice is in its larger size. Dimensions: length - 3.1 x width - 1.0 x depth - .65 inches.

Erik:
#sandisk_sansa_express It's reminiscent of the original iPod Shuffle. I actually liked that design because it doubled as a thumb drive. Adding a screen makes it appealing to people wanting a cheap mp3 player but don't want to give up control on their playlists.
